How does Solo Work?

The Solo™ system is made of two parts which work together wirelessly, the MicroPump and the Remote. It delivers insulin in a personalized way and keeps you updated on the status of your MicroPump.

The MicroPump is the “heart” of Solo.

The MicroPump is made up of a disposable insulin Reservoir and a 90 day reusable Pump Base that stores all your pump parameters for accurate and precise 24 hour basal delivery as well as boluses on demand. The Reservoir holds up to 200 units of insulin and should be replaced based on the insulin manufacturer recommendations (max of 3 days for Novolog®, 2 days for Humalog® and Apidra®).

The MicroPump is attached to your body with a Cradle that allows insulin delivery through a soft tube (Cannula) - and lets you attach and detach the MicroPump.  Anytime.  Anywhere. Like other insulin pumps, you should change your infusion site (our Cannula Cradle Set) every two or three days. If you ever get a bad insertion site, all you need to is change the Cannula  Cradle Set – not the entire MicroPump, saving insulin and cost!

The Remote is the “brains” of the operation.

About the size of a smart phone, the Solo Remote allows you to program your basal and bolus delivery just like any traditional pump – with all the “bells and whistles.”

But instead of being connected to the pump, it wirelessly downloads all the information to the MicroPump so it can work continuously, even if the Remote is not within reach!

In addition, the Remote provides you support:
• Solo Bolus Guide helps you figure out how much insulin to take for high blood sugars or carbs you plan to eat
• Easy color menus guide you through everything
• Set up and supply change “wizards” make it a snap to get going and maintain your Solo
• All the functions and safety features of traditional pumps
• Messages tell you what is happening and what to do – in plain English!
• History tracking includes entered blood sugars, BG trend graphs and insulin delivery for the past 90 days
